About the artist
The design of birds fills me with awe.
I love seeing them, learning about them and especially painting them.
For the past 20 years my paintings have featured birdlife and flora native to the island state of Tasmania, where I live.
I enjoy the challenge of painting accurately and each bird at actual size, whether it’s a delicate wren or an imposing eagle. I go bushwalking to find inspiration and reference for backgrounds and spend many hours painting the intricate details of moss, lichen, ferns and branches.
My preferred medium is matte acrylic, though used with a watercolour technique. I normally utilise a natural white background so attention is drawn to the subject and composition.
I exhibit collections of new work every 1-2 years. Selected paintings are also available as archival quality signed prints in editions of 30, only at the size of the original artwork.
